Back in May of 2019, we released the first beta of the official Gopherdon apps, built off of the Hyperspace client for Mastodon. Since then, we’ve been working hard to make the Gopherdon apps the best they can be across the web, desktop, and mobile devices. As Hyperspace continues to mature, the Gopherdon apps get to benefit from its steady updates. As of October, app users can switch between multiple accounts and quickly access parts of the app with keyboard shortcuts on the desktop versions. About three weeks ago, we added a new Gopherdon-specific feature that lets Gopherdon users browse upcoming events at Goucher served from events.goucher.edu and filter by day, week, or month.
Recently, the Hyperspace client has matured to a stable 1.0.0 release, and we’re hoping to being these new changes in to the Gopherdon apps and promote them as ready for regular use. We plan to release the official Gopherdon apps as a stable release soon. For the time being, you can take a look at what the stable release will be like by trying out the Golden Master build of Gopherdon. The Golden Master contains all of the features that Gopherdon will have and should be mostly bug-free, close to the regular release.
I’d like to personally thank the Hyperspace team and the Gopherdon app team for making these apps possible and can’t wait to get the full release of the Gopherdon apps out soon.
